To Have and To Hold: Valentines from the Victorian Era 

People have been sending Valentine’s cards and love notes to their loved ones since at least the sixteenth century, but the practice didn’t gain widespread popularity until the nineteenth century. At Dixon Gallery & Gardens, you can view Valentine’s missives from days gone by!

The University Symphony Orchestra presents “Star Crossed,” an evening of music inspired by famous love stories, including  Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story, and more! This evening promises to be an enchanting celebration of love and its complexities. The event promises to “create a captivating and romantic atmosphere just in time for Valentine’s Day.”

Resin Art Workshop 

Show your love with your own handmade, unique resin art! In this two-day workshop with artist Cinthia Serna, you’ll create one to three art pieces using resin. Serna will give  hands-on support to guide you through the resin crafting process as you create keepsakes for your sweetie, a friend, or for yourself!

National Ornamental Metal Museum 

February 4 – April 14

Radical Jewelry Makeover 

Jewelry is a traditionally romantic gift, but how can we be sure it’s an ethical one? Ethical Metalsmiths’ Radical Jewelry Makeover raises awareness about jewelry’s impact on the environment, supply chains, and human rights. The National Ornamental Metal Museum will be exhibiting 70 works by over 25 different artists who examine mining issues and ethics while creating innovative jewelry from recycled sources.

WEDNESDAY WINTER WALKS

Overton Park 

Every Wednesday at 4:00pm  

Wednesday Winter Walks 

Fall in love with the natural world with weekly winter walks through Overton Park, every Wednesday at 4:00pm. There’s no agenda for these casual 1.4-mile strolls, which are a great way to meet new people and get outside. The path is accessible, and dogs on a leash are welcome. Meet at the Rainbow Lake Playground Kiosk. The days are slowly but steadily lengthening as we get closer to spring. Soak up the extra sunshine!
