It’s springtime in Memphis, and that means plenty of festivals celebrating everything from books to hiking to the legacy of the civil rights movement. Check out our list of five great spring festivals and add them to your calendar today!

Live at the Lorraine is a new music series hosted by the National Civil Rights Museum. This series of performances honors the enduring legacy of the American civil rights movement. Performances will take place in the Ford Theatre and are scheduled in April, June, and August.
Grind CIty Brewery
April 5-6, 2024
The Grind City Music Festival returns to Grind City Brewing with a two-day festival featuring alt-country and Americana acts with headliners Charley Crockett and Whiskey Myers. Additional artists include Muscadine Bloodline, The Red Clay Strays, Lucky 7 Brass Band & Friends, and more. Single-day tickets, weekend passes, and VIP Packages are available.
Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library
Saturday, April 6th, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Bookstock is Memphis’ largest annual festival celebrating local authors. Come out to Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library on Saturday, April 6 and celebrate local authors and their books. This year’s event features two keynote speakers: Avery Cunningham, author of The Mayor of Maxwell Street, and Dr. Sidney Thompson, author of The Bass Reeves Trilogy.
Meeman Shelby Forest State Park
April 13, 2024, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Annual Shelby Forest SpringFest returns for its 12th year with music, food, arts and crafts vendors, wildlife, and cultural exhibits. Come check out the petting zoo or the antique tractor show, and stay for the crawfish boil and the 1970s costume contest!
Multiple events and locations
May 15-18 and May 25, 2024
For over four decades, Memphis in May has celebrated Memphis culture, fostered economic growth, and enhanced international awareness of our city. This year comes with some changes. The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest will return to Liberty Park from May 15-18. The Great American River Run will be held Downtown Memphis on May 25. The Beale Street Music Festival will be paused and will not take place this year.
Spring is the perfect time to get out and enjoy all that our beautiful city has to offer, from great breweries to scenic state parks and world-class museums. We look forward to celebrating Memphis with you this spring!
